Dad and big sis Madison went down to give Red Bull a face to face pep talk, and to take him to the hospital to get his cast cut off. We had tried to encourage him to continue hiking until it was time for the cast removal, but he parked himself at the Microtel and would not budge.
They went to the Franklin, NC Angel Hospital ER tonight, I had phoned ahead this morning to see if they could remove his cast. There were 2 patients in the ER (Red Bull being one of the two), it took 3 hours. They needed to locate someone who could cut off the cast.
They then took Red Bull shopping to stock up on supplies. He is renewed and rejuvenated... ready to hit the trail in the morning! YAY!
Whew! Disaster averted! Mom and Dad were set up to lose either way!
