Red Bull and his companions hiked to the Calf Mountain Shelter, mile 869 on the A.T.; with an additional 4 mile journey from town, making their hiking total about 12 miles today. They are at an elevation of 2,668 feet, and are about 19 miles north of where the mountain lion attack occurred 5 days ago.
They have entered the Shenandoah National Park. The timing of Red Bull's hike is extraordinary, with it being the 100th anniversary of our National Parks. This is a coincidence, it was just the best time for Red Bull to begin his hike. Tomorrow he will enter a 25 mile section of the trail, that had been closed due to a forest fire earlier this year.
